2016, thank you for these releases.
UPDATE: December 4, 2024
So, what had happened was…
The year is 2016. It is a big year in music. Legends pass. New-comers arrive with conviction. Known talents grace us with gems. What a year.
Like many regular listeners of Benji B on BBC Radio 1, I eagerly await his annual December year-end mix highlighting some of the choice tracks from projects released during the year. Benji repeatedly invites listeners to submit their picks for the year and with 2016 being so full of goodness, I am inspired to send in a few of my selections, in the spirit of celebration and fellowship. When I finish making my list of albums and singles, I have hours of music listed. I think, this could be its own mix.
With enthusiasm, I manage to pull together my very first mix effort: 2016 Mix. I create an account on Mixcloud and upload, thrilled to take part in this kind of musical conversation. I am so exuberant about all of the music and making more than a playlist, that I do not consider such things as rules and regulations, fine print legalese, etc.
Well, at some point in 2023, I happen to notice that the 2016 Mix is missing from my Mixcloud profile. Hmmm. I rummage around the back end and find 2016 Mix in a “Drafts” section, with a label stating that the mix violates Mixcloud Terms & Conditions. What?! No. I look into these Terms & Conditions, skimming their contents. Oh. It seems that violations may have occurred.
After getting around to making the required cuts and then rearranging the remaining tracks, I am pleased to post this legally acceptable 2016 Mix, a redo and a redux.
I did enjoy revisiting, and I hope that you do, too.
XO
